STEP 1: IDEA

Idea: 2D exploration based puzzle platformer that uses colour as a way to manipulate the enviroment. Characters will be a play on the elements Yin and Yang. I want the game to make people use forward thinking to overcome obsticals

Stand Alone Game Enviroment/Level Design

Software: Construct 2 will be the best softwere to develop my game in for it is simple and easy to grasp although it may end up having trouble running some of the machanics I intend to add

Description: The world will be set in the post apocalypse/ rapture were all living things are gone. The main characters Yin and Yang have to try and find balance again leading to them creating a new world. There can be different dimensions like limbo were the characters can travel through in order to reach new destinations.

STEP 2: SETTINGS, THEME AND LOCATION

Enviroment Settings: I want the enviroment to feel somber using places like woods and caves. I would also like to add some more mythical enviroments like the underworld. mainly using blue to add the feeling to the enviroment. There will be things like runes in rocks and

Key Locations: Woods, Caves, Citys, Underworld, Limbo

STEP 3: PROJECT PURPOSE

I Want to Create: A puzzle platformer

I Want to Learn or Improve: Map design, Programming

I Want the Player to Experience the Following: Intresting gameplay and challenging puzzles

Photo Reference:

In this picture I like the landscape and the look of the pillars. If i were to take somthing from this image it would be the design of the large pillars

In this image i like the composition. The angle and the light coming down through the roof looks realy nice and i like the layout of the cave

In this image i like the colours of the rocks and the effect the long exposior has on the enviroment. If I were to take anything from this it would be the colour and the smooth look of the enviroment.

Game art references

The Jorney

Journey has a unique block colour art style that I realy like. The concept art they use is very nice and does a good job of being plain yet not boring. journey is a 3D platformer with a similar art style to the one I would like to impliment into my game.

Ori and the blind forest

Ori and the blind forest is an artistic puzzle platformer. I like Oris' character design as well as the colours used, they give off a nice feeling to the game and realy help to set the mood in each scene.

Tengami

Tengami is a puzzle platformer. It has an extremely unique art style were the entire enviroment is made of origami cut puts. It relies on puzzles to keep the game interesting instead of combat like most other games.

Deadlight

DeadLight is a combat platformer with an interacive enviroment. I like the gameplay of the game for it uses heavy stealth aspects and relies on fast pased gameplay and platforming to avoid having to go into combat.
