When looking at the layouts of proffesional concept art I found this image. I noticed how the artist had chosen not to focus on the enviroment and has focused more on the composition and character stance. I feel that he has done this to set a mood. The stance that the character is sat in and the blood on his helmet gives off a feeling of despair and helplessne. It allows you to put a story to the character and even without the detailed enviroment you can tell that they are in a warzone just buy the way the character is drawn.
The character is sat in the foreground making him the main focus. I feel that this is done to add some humanity to the character but in the background you can see his gun, this is done to show what that character is going to have to do furthing increasing the backstory you can grasp just by looking at the picture.
At the bottom of the screen you can see were bungie has used a watermark for this concept art. This is done to deter people from stealing the art as well as advertising their game and their artists.

When developing my concept art I chose to focus on the mood that the art set. I tried to give the art a calm feeling to it. I centered the main characters in the middle of the image using shading and blur to add effect. I wanted the original Yang to look imposing yet not threatning to do this I made him take up alot more of the picture and had him look down on Yin, I also made the light shine on his face I felt this made him seem alot less threatning and more of a gentle giant esc character. I wanted yin to look innocent and somewhat elegant. I did this by adjusting Yins pose. I made her sit as well as have her become the source of light in the image. I felt these elements succesfuly set the mood i was aiming for. It made the image feel calm and somber.
When adding my watermarks I decided to add my innitials and my porfolio adress. I set them on a low opacity so they would not be too imposing.
