Gabriele Brombin is a 26 year old graphics designer from Italy. He produces wallpapers and short visual novels in his free time and also develops game concept art and advertisment for the company he works for.
Style
Brombin has a very smooth and minimalistic style were he uses a form of cell shading wich adds an extremely nice effect. He prefers to draw more surealism than anything else making things like alean planets and using abstract shapes to form a narative and tells a story through the imagry. I feel that he likes to use this style because of how calming it is. In his visual novel the sand sea and the plateaux of mirrors I feel that the style can reflect a state of melancoly but at the same time stay quite bright. I feel that the story is a play on solitude and the obsticals you have to deal with alone.
Technique
Brobmin comonly uses a mixed media of both painting hand drawing photoshop and Illistrator. The hand drawing portion is dont to get a nice and natural outline of the design and is then painted over. Photoshop can either be used in tandem with the treditional techniques or on its own but for things like his visual novel he tends to use photoshop to touch up the painting after it is finished and add effects and extra detail. Illistrator is used for some of his advertising peices.
Inspiration
I feel that while developing the sand sea and the plateaux of mirrors, he looked at the game Journey for the two of them both have a very similar art styles and enviroments. They are also similar in layout and narrative were a lone character is wandering about a wasteland.
My opinion
I extremely like the art style used by Gabriele Brombin and have used a similar style in some of my past projects and artwork. I love the smooth and minimalistic style and how everything just looks smooth and calm and feel that his work will continue to serve as an inspiration to me in the future.
