When searching for artists I searched for artists in a very specific feild and style. I only looked at product designers and architecural designers. I got the designers I have listed bellow from this website http://www.dezeen.com/tag/wood/ and found it very usefull for researching and getting the artists I wanted.

Here are all of the artists i found that I liked with links to their portfolios/stores.

The SPiKO wooden speaker is a portable bluetooth speaker build with two 3 watt speakers and two Air Woofers. The shell is hand crafted out of rosewood. The wood is used in the speakers for its sound enhancing qualities for the wood is commonly used in the creation of other musical instuments like guitars flutes and violins, this makes the sound quality alot warmer adds more depth.

This speaker is supposed to be a modern and stylish take on the treditional bluetooth speaker. The design has been chosen to look nice while not taking away any quality from the purpose of the product. all additions are there for a reason and there is no unnecicary additions It is supposed to look modern and minimalist while still keeping its natural qualities. I feel that this is done excedingly well making it a highly desirable product.

The Otaku bathtub is a bathtub designed by Tal Engel. The bathtub is woven bamboo taken from the Vietnamese technique used in creating basket boats were interwoven bamboo is coated in coconut oil resin or sometimes even tar to waterproof it. The bathtub is then placed onto a steel frame.

The piece is supposed to symbolise the connection between having a bath and sailing but I do not understand how. Other than the technique there is no relevance I can think of. The design looks modern and unique with a nice natural feel to it. The texture made from the bamboo weave looks very nice and allows it to fit into a modern house. It is a very unique concept and is somthing I had not thought about when looking at a bathtub.

The Gramovox floating record is a modern play on the treditional turntable. Unlike most turntables the record is shown verticaly. The lower case is made of oak wood with Tymphany 2" neodymium speakers driven by a 15w per channel digital amplifier. This gives the product the extremely high quality audio.

The design is supposed to be both space efficient and stylish without sacrificing any audio quality, for one of the main problem with a vinyl player is the amount of space it takes up. I feel that this has been done very well it looks nice and space efficient, although not personaly having heard the sound i cannot wright with confidence that it has not lost any quality but judging by reviews I can guess that they have managed to keep the unique sound a record produces and added a more eligent design. The design gives a nice modern feel while still keeping the vintage, nostaligic style most vinyl players have.

The studhorse is a building built in the remote Methow Valley. The house was mainly built from sturdy and low maintenance materials like glass and metal, capable of withstanding the freezing winters and extremely hot summers. The wood used on the building was recycled from an old barn in the area, wich gave the house a nice weathered effect.

The design of the house is supposed to blend seamlessly into the enviroment, I feel that this is done very well for it seems to blend into the landscape as well as offering paneramic views of the surrounding enviroment. I aspecialy like the seperated buildings instead of one big house, it is a very unique design for a house and I feel helps add to the feeling the building gives off. I also like the Interaction the owner can have with the building, being able to open a wall up to the outdoors and have an outdoor television.

The Fun noodle bar is a noodle bar located in Shenzhen, China. The prodject was an interior and exterior re-work of the building. The main materials used were oak wood and concrete. The resteraunts layout has been positioned to take advantage of the view from the resteraunt . It consists of four quadrants seperated by smaller wooden boxes. This has been done to assist in enhancing the circulation of the resteraunt.

When asked to design the resteraunt the client was very insistant on it being a minimalistic design, I feel the use of oak wood and concrete does a very good job of this for they are both very subtle colours that add to the calm atmosphere of the resteraunt. The design is supposed feel open while still having privacy. I feel this has been done very well for the use of the wooden boxes give a feeling of privicy, but the open layout of the resteraunt thanks to the high ceilings and exposed walls make the space seem much larger than it actualy is.

The bluebell pool house is a detached pool house located in Crawley, Winchester. The walls are heavily insulated building covered in oak pladding. There is a sedum roof in order to reduce the footprint the building has on the enviroment. The rooms include a play room, gym and shower room providing entertainment to all the family throughout the seasons. The building is a modern contemporary style designed to be sustainable built from sustainable resorces.

The design is supposed to reprisent an extension of nature, being made from a renewable source as well as not taking away habitat from other animals. The design is very cubist and controlled being made of wood and glass makes the area seem very open and connected to nature. The use of prefabricated cross-laminated timber panels helped drasticaly reduce construction time and aloud them to save alot of labour cost. The use of concrete in the build helps add a mixture of both man made and nature.
