My ceramic bowel was designed in my visualisation unit. I used coiling to make the bowel. I found it difficult to get the stepped design while making it for If I made it too steep it collapsed and and if I made it too shallow then the step was not prominent enough. After I finished making the bowel we cooked it in the kiln. Once it was ready I used wax to stop the glaze from getting on certain parts and drew on my design. I had trouble when applying the glaze and struggled to get it evenly covered for the stepped design made it so that too much glaze built up on the corners. This just meant paying extra attention and angling the pot correctly to help get as even a cover as possible.. Once this was finished I Rakku fired the pot. Sadly during this process the pot broke at the bottom I believe this is due to me not securing it properly whiles I was making it and will make sure that I pay more attention to this next time.

For the slab working everyone made a plug. I personally found slab working to be my best area in ceramics for I found it much more forgiving on my as well as how It was more mathematical and plan based when compared to the other styles of ceramics. I feel that my plug came out well. I would have liked to clean up the lines a little bit more but I still felt that it looked nice and was finished to a quality I was happy with.

After doing this initial slab working with the plug I decided to expand on this and make my own design. my design was inspired and expanded upon in the visualisation unit. I found this design tricky for its small size made putting it together fiddly and I struggled with getting the right amount of clay to use when sticking the pieces together. I was actually really happy with the finished product and it was actually one of my favourite things to come out of this unit. I did think about adding colour but felt that the minimalist style of just leaving it blank was part of its charm and did not wish to add anything else. One problem with it was due to its small size It was very fragile meaning that once it was knocked over sadly one of the wings broke off. I could avoid this next time by possibly making a larger version or by attempting to make the joints stronger.

I also attempted to throw pottery. I did have a larger collection of pots but due to issues with my camera I lost the photos of the other pots pre firing then lost the pots post firing. I found that with throwing I was limited to working with smaller amounts of clay for I found that once they got bigger It was harder for my to control and I would end up gripping to hard and ripping the clay off the base. It took my a while to get my technique but after a while I felt that I had it and understood how to make the pots.
