To begin with I was not aiming for any finished result I simply wanted to experiment with the different machinery and see the different types of effects they could give. It was because of this that i decided to make the test piece so that I could get a feel for the types of finishes and details I could get. found I liked the serrated effect I got on the edge of the glass but disliked the look of the scribed details.

When making my flat glass sheet I used my wave drawings from visualisation as inspiration and tried to mimic a water texture. I did this by using the water wheel to cut different overlapping groves ranging in thickness to help simulate the appearance of water. I think that this came out succesfully and liked the result I got. If I am able to I would like to translate this onto other works I make and maybe Use It on my 3D glass model.

During the process of working the flat piece of glass I broke a lot of pieces off and ended up placing them in a pile, it was this that gave me the Idea of what to make fore my 3D glass sculpture. I found that I liked the way the different bits of broken glass played with the light when stacked together. I first was planning on fusing them while they were stacked on top of one another in 3 layers but found that setting it up this way could cause issues with the fusing and may not give me a clean with some parts breaking off. Because of this I decided to add back braces to help hold everything together. This should fix the issues that were present before but I did not like the look of the braces with the sculpture. It was because of this that I decided to set the glass up in a brick laying format and this I liked the look of as well as It being a more stable set up for fusing. This was the design I used and the finished product came out very well. The only thing I would have liked to keep was that before fusing the edges were a lot sharper giving a nicer effect with the light but I am aware that I will not be able to keep that effect while fusing.

After my fusing and the fact that I found the sharper corners pre fusing were better with light I decided to attempt a different way of holding the glass together and this came in the form of wrapping wire around the little did I know that this Idea was devil spawn that I shall never attempt again. I found it way too fiddly and was unable to get a tight hold on the glass. I managed to get two together but that took a good few hours not to mention the billions of tiny cuts all over my hands from working this the still sharp glass I figured it was not worth the effort so I took one part of the glass and wrapped tat and found it looked nice as a necklace. I thought the copper was a bit overpowering and decided after that it would look better if done with silver wire but I did not hate my self enough to attempt it again.
