Task 1 – Preparation and project planning Week 42-46 Read the Brief and develop a timetabled plan of work to ensure that you meet deadlines. Take possible issues and potential solutions into consideration. Use additional planning tools such as tables, graphs, charts, to-do lists. Be realistic with your goals and leave yourself extra time for setbacks. Investigate which platforms (wix, blogger, wordpress, etc) and software (Photoshop, MS word, Publisher, etc) will best suit your purpose and why. Select 3 different Eras before making your final selection, document this decision. Keep a project diary (this aspect may be added to your unit blog), documenting your progress each week / day. Develop / build your digital submission as you work through the tasks. This may take the form of a website, using tools such as Wordpress, Wix.com or Adobe Muse or a blog (this MUST BE SEPARATE to your unit blog).

 

Task 2 – Select and Research a Point in History Week 42-46 Select a location and historical period, movement era or event on which to base your research. Research the selected era with a focus on; o Current events of that time o Influences; such as social, economic, political, cultural, key movements o Style, distribution, design, production and technology o Any other factors that impacted creative practices Use your research to develop a 500-word essay on your selected era. Your essay should include appropriate structure and referencing in Harvard referencing format (see guide).

 

Task 3 – Artist Research Week 42-46 From your selected era, investigate 3 comic book / strip artists. Analyse how key aspects of the era and location / culture influenced their work / style. Yr 1 - Interactive Media - Unit 5 – 2015 (Summer Term) Research possible interpretations of messages communicated through comic book / strips publications in that era. Are they relevant to a current event? Is there hidden meaning? Are they controversial? Include samples of the Artists’ work and identify key elements / characteristics. Use your research to develop a 500 Word essay on your selected artists and their work. Your essay should include appropriate structure and referencing in Harvard referencing format (see guide).

 

Task 4 – Contextual Comic Concept Development Week 42-46 Using your research from tasks 2 & 3, identify key elements / characteristics of a single artist or publication in your chosen era. Use your research and the key elements and characteristics identified to develop a concept for a Comic book or strip relevant to your selected Era. Use professional planning and development processes; o Create an annotated mood board and mind map (these may be combined if you wish) o Evidence of idea development and experimentation with different concepts before selecting single design to develop Develop a cover page for your comic that features your concept (you may develop additional pages if you wish and time allows)

 

Task 5 – Final Submission Week 42-46 Publish your completed work on Tapastic or Musomic and provide a link to your publication in your submission (optional). Complete a reflective analysis of your project upon completion (Post-Mortem), this should be 400-500 words. Submit an interactive digital presentation (website / blog) of your work. This must include evidence of completion of ALL tasks and your final presentation. You will also be required to print and bind a physical copy of your digital submission. Deliver a formal presentation about your concept to your peers lasting no more than 5 minutes. This may be physical or digital.
